New Bills Signed Into Law

This past Tuesday, July 12, 2011, was the deadline for Governor Neil Abercrombie to sign or veto all bills that passed the State Legislature this 2011 session.

  • A total of 235 bills became law, a few became law without the Governor’s signature.  Click here to see all the measured that are now law.

Djou Speaks In Support Of Congressional Gold Medal For the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and 100th Infantry Battalion

Yesterday, Congressman Charles Djou addressed the nation expressing his support to Senate Resolution 1055/HR Resolution 347 recognizing the outstanding service that the 442nd Regimental Combat Team/100 Infantry Battalion members exemplified during World War II.

The bill aims to grant the congressional gold medal, collectively, to the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, United States Army, in recognition of their dedicated service during World War II.

The battalion served with distinction in Italy, southern France, and Germany. During their service, the 100th Battalion and their regiment received 7 Presidential Unit Citations, 21 Medals of Honor, 29 Distinguished Service Crosses, 560 Silver Stars, 4,000 Bronze Stars, 22 Legion of Merit Medals, 15 Soldier’s Medals, and over 4,000 Purple Hearts, among numerous additional distinctions. According to the resolution, the 100th Battalion’s regiment was the most decorated unit in the military for its size and length of service.

In addition, Hawaii state house candidate Richard Fale stated:

“As someone who served in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom) only a year ago as part of the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regiment, I am extremely proud of the historical significance and dedication to our country that my predecessors exemplified.”

“If you haven’t already, I urge you to express your thanks to our state leaders for their unified support of this effort.”
